Fencing comes to Parkview School

Parkview students get a lesson on the sport of fencing.
An introductory fencing class for all students was held at Parkview during Friday Sport’s Day on October 27, 2017.  The owners of Gryphon Fencing and Fitness Studio, located in Placentia, spent the afternoon sharing their knowledge and expertise with the Parkview students, parents, and staff.
The students were given the opportunity to learn the footwork and blade work of fencing along with the strategy and tactics of the sport.  The afternoon class also included the history, etiquette, and rules of sports fencing.
Fencing is an all around fitness sport which helps to develop discipline, stamina and coordination. These are beneficial attributes for everyone.  Although fencing is an Olympic sport, many don’t know much about the sport. It was a great opportunity for the Parkview community.
If you’ve never seen or participated in fencing, Parkview recommends you give it a whirl!
