Class of 2017 Alum Nathan Wu visits Valencia representing Harvard University Admissions Office

Valencia students hearing from a former Tiger.

On Tuesday, December 19, Valencia High School (VHS) alumus and current Harvard freshman, Nathan Wu, spoke with VHS students about his first semester experience in college.

Speaking on behalf of the Harvard Admissions Department, Nathan described his own experience going through the college-application process. He shared that his International Baccalaureate (IB) program gave him the necessary academic skills to be successful in his freshman coursework.

Nathan felt that one of the invisible benefits of going to Harvard is the social connections he has made. He shared that, as a Computer Science major, he will likely take a course across town at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) next semester.

Nathan also shared his excitement about being able to participate in a business internship with a firm that supports new startups, similar to the popular show Shark Tank. Nathan was especially appreciative of the research and writing skills he learned as an IB student and credited his IB teachers with preparing him for the challenge of an Ivy League education.
