Valencia High School’s (VHS) CyberPatriot program is in its third year and thriving. CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created to help direct students towards careers in cyber-security or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
For the 2017-18 school year, the Tigers have eight teams of students competing, five of which have qualified for the state competition at the platinum level (top 30% of teams). This includes a team made up of all girls led by senior, Caroline Bostwick (pictured below). The platinum distinction puts the Tigers in the running for the national competition.
In addition, VHS had two teams earn gold status (middle 40% of teams) and one earn silver (bottom 30% of teams). Four of the school’s teams are “rookie teams” this year. The CyberPatriot state competition is set to take place Saturday, January 20. Good luck, Tigers!
