Da Vinci at Ruby Drive Elementary School

Ruby Drive students participating in art.

After a Meet the Masters lesson, first grade students at Ruby Drive Elementary School put their artistic and self expression talents to work as they painted realistic portraits imitating those of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Students learned that he was a master at studying the lines and shapes of a person’s face.  Da Vinci very slowly and carefully looked at the textures, shapes, and details of the person.  Ruby Drive students took on the challenge and drew a portrait of a man who would have lived during Leonardo’s time.  They, too, used line, shape, and texture.  Markers, water, and q-tips were used to make these portraits come alive.

Great work, Cougars!
