AVID students at Valencia get a taste of college

In early October, students in the AVID program at Valencia High School visited California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), for a tour of their campus and dorm rooms. They loved the expansive Pollak Library and the Titan Student Union.

During the first week of November, AVID seniors got a unique opportunity to visit a local private institution, Hope International University, located across the street from CSUF. Hope International University has created a partnership with Valencia’s AVID program, and supports our students with tremendous scholarship opportunities. In fact, some former AVID Tigers are currently attending Hope International University on full scholarships.

AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other postsecondary opportunities, especially those traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
