Winning comes naturally for Yorba Linda High School sports

Yorba Linda High School has started the school year with another impressive showing in all fall sports.

Congratulations to Coach Rey Lejano and the girls tennis team on their league championship. The team went undefeated in North Hills League play. At the North Hills League girls tennis finals, Yorba Linda’s doubles team of Lauren Bui and Claire Zuro won the doubles championship, while Allie Newman and Erika Paul took third place. Additionally, Emily Valenciano won her second individual league title in her career by winning the singles championship. This is the fifth year in a row that the team has finished in first place.

Congratulations to Coach Shardad Djahangiry and the boys water polo team for defeating El Dorado High School last week, thereby clinching another league title. This is the fourth year in a row that the team has finished in first place.

Congratulations to our most recent head coach addition, Coach Vidal Arista, and his boys cross country team for earning a league championship. This is the second year in a row that the team has finished in first place.

Finally, kudos to:

  • Coach Jaclyn Chavez and the girls volleyball team: second place
  • Coach Dennis Riggs and the girls golf team: second place

Best of luck to everyone in the CIF. Keep up the great work, and go Mustangs!
