Everybody won at Golden Elementary’s Red Ribbon Week food drive

For Red Ribbon Week, Golden Elementary School hosted a school-wide food drive. Canned food donations went into two bins — one labeled USC and the other UCLA (a friendly university rivalry). Principal Turk promised to wear the shirt of whichever university bin received the most donations on the following Wednesday.

While there were more can donations in the USC bin, all students won as the abundance of food went to Caring Hands Ministry, which serves hot meals every Tuesday evening. The Caring Hands food pantry serves 250 to 300 needy families weekly.

In one day, Golden families contributed over 500 cans to this worthy cause. A win for the entire community!
