El Dorado student completes Eagle Scout project by helping Placentia PD

El Dorado High School (EDHS) student, John Thomas, recently completed his Eagle Scout project by refurbishing the Placentia Police Department’s Motorcycle Barn.  He is in Yorba Linda Troop 99.

To begin, the Golden Hawk had to present his project to the Placentia City Council for approval. With his father’s help, John was then able to have two local contractors donate labor and materials for two large components of the project — the roof and the lighting.  John also raised funds by holding several garage sales and soliciting donations to purchase other materials for the remodel.

In the end, John’s project was completed over three weekends and took 162 volunteer hours!

On March 18, Sergeant Anderson and Motor Officer Garza of Placentia PD attended John’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony to show the department’s appreciation for the student’s hard work.

“John did an amazing job and we are very thankful he chose to help our department,” shared Placentia PD.
