On Tuesday, April 10, 8th graders at Travis Ranch School had the opportunity to video conference with Aaron Yazzie, a mechanical engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena.

The Trailblazers learned about the Mars robotic missions with which he is involved, including Curiosity, Insight (launching May 5), and Mars 2020. The students then had an opportunity for a Q & A session where they asked him questions ranging from his childhood and school experiences, to when he thinks humans will set foot on Mars.

This experience was courtesy of a program called SpaceTime Experts organized by The Planetary Society.
