Valencia High School’s (VHS) Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA) students placed 2nd in the 2018 Annual Home Builders Committee (HBC) Design/Build Competition April 28-29!

HBC’s Design/Build is an annual competition gathering educators and over 350 students from Youth Build divisions and various Southern California high schools, community colleges, and Regional Occupational Programs (ROP).

With a maximum of 15 students on each team, the teams engage in one of two phases over the weekend-long competition. The Design students will draft and design a 6 x 8 structure and/or floor plan, and prepare the associated construction documents, while the Build students will physically construct a 6 x 8 structure at the build site within the time allotted.

The Tigers applied their extensive training and practice to work together as a team in this competition. Valencia’s program will now go on to the state competition where the top 2 teams from Southern California and the top 2 teams from Northern CA will compete on the lawn of the State Capitol.

Great work, Tigers!
