Lakeview Preppy K and kindergarten students learn how to save pumpkin seeds

The Preppy K and kindergarten classes at Lakeview Elementary School learned how to save pumpkin seeds in mid-November so that they can be replanted in March for our falling Fall 2016 harvest.

Parent volunteers and mentors helped the children cut open different sized pumpkins, extract the seeds, clean them off and dry them on some shallow box lids.

The seeds from different sized pumpkins (e.g., sugar pumpkins, jack-o’-lantern and decorative) will be saved in differently labeled envelopes so that they can be planted in the spring for science.
