Parkview School celebrates the Class of 2018 and eighth grade promotion

Parkview School held their 2018 commencement ceremony on Tuesday, June 12, in the Auditorium at Valencia High School. The school awarded 26 seniors their high school diplomas, as well as promoted 29 eighth grade students.

The Board of Education Vice President, Carrie Buck, as well as Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School (PYLUSD) District Assistant Superintendent, David Giordano, Directors, Dr. Eric Mooney, Rick Lopez, Paula Sitar, and retiring Principal, Kathie DiRocco, were among the honored guests in attendance.

To begin the ceremony, Parkview graduates Jacob and Jose Edmonds lead the flag salute, while Danielle Houch sang the national anthem. Principal DiRocco then welcomed those in attendance.

Parkview’s eighth graders were first recognized with various awards, scholarships, and then their promotion certificates.

Parkview senior, Cathryn Salladin, then delivered the student address in front of an excited crowd of fellow graduates, loved ones, and staff members.

Before receiving their diplomas, Parkview students were awarded various scholarships including the Presidential Awards, the Alice Hetland Scholarship, the P.L.U.M. Award, the SchoolsFirst Scholarship, and the National Merit Scholarship.

Of those graduating seniors, 93% will be moving on to attend a college, university, or trade school following high school. Congrats, Panthers!
