Valencia High School 2018 commencement ceremony

VHS graduation 2018.

On Thursday, June 14, Valencia High School (VHS) held its 83rd commencement ceremony where almost 600 Class of 2018 seniors were presented their high school diploma in Bradford Stadium.

The VHS Class of 2018 included a record-breaking 86 candidates for International Baccalaureate (IB) diplomas and 79 Val Tech diploma recipients, as well as 706 distinguished scholars, and 95 collegiate scholars.  Collectively the graduating class earned over $5 million in scholarships and donated over 67,000 community services hours!

Thursday’s ceremony included honored guests such as Board of Education President, Carol Downey, Vice President, Carrie Buck, as well as Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Assistant Superintendent, David Giordano, Executive Director, Richard McAlindin, Director, Rick Lopez, and Principal Olivia Yaung.

Students Amelia Morgan and Akshat Donti both delivered speeches filled with reflective memories and heartfelt gratitude towards VHS, fellow graduates, and supportive loved ones.

After Principal Yaung congratulated the Class of 2018 and instructed the students to turn their tassels from right to left, the stadium roared with cheers for the Tigers.
