During her time away from school, Kraemer Middle School 7th grade G.A.T.E. student, Anvi Bhagavatula, recently worked with the Yorba Linda Woman’s Club (YLWC) to collect and donate almost 160 purses to victims of domestic violence and human trafficking at Grandma’s House of Hope.

At YLWC’s “pajama night,” Anvi provided an explanation of what the project is and its goals. She collected most of the purses as donations from the community while the YLWC helped fill these with journals, makeup, and jewelry.

Purses. The remaining purses which were not new/almost-new and could not be used for this event, but were donated to the families at Orange County Connecting Hands instead. The smaller purses (pictured left) were filled with coloring books, markers, and other items for the children of these women.

Great work, Anvi!
