On February 17, El Dorado High School 9th grader Wendy Ostaszweski performed on trombone in the All-State Honor Symphonic Band during the California All-State Music Educators Conference (CASMEC) in Fresno, California. Hundreds of students from across the state submit recorded auditions in the fall with the hopes of being selected to perform in one of five ensembles the CASMEC weekend. Wendy was the only freshmen in the Symphonic Band trombone section and had the opportunity to be conducted by Dr. Frank Tracz, professor of music and director of bands at Kansas State University.

The Symphonic Band performed at a high level and Dr. Frank Tracz is a phenomenal conductor. Wendy had the opportunity to sit alongside some of the best student musicians in the state and this experience will help her continue to develop as a musician. A special thank you goes out to her private music teacher, Amy Bowers (Valencia High School Class of 1994) for preparing Wendy for her audition.”
