Valencia High School’s Alec Sweet to represent American Legion at “Boys State”

Valencia High School senior Alec Sweet was recently invited to speak at the City of Placentia’s Veterans Day Ceremony. Alec was selected for this honor by the American Legion Post 277. He was also chosen as their representative to “Boys State,” an educational program of government instruction for high school students.

Alec gave a moving speech challenging all — and especially his generation — to honor, value and appreciate those who protect our freedom.

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
