Mrs. Cavalluzzi, El Dorado High School E.D. LAW Coordinator, recently had the opportunity to travel to the state capitol with three E.D. LAW students, Colby Bladow, Jaelen Neri, and Vincent Demonte.

Each year, the California Partnership Academies consortium sponsors an “Acadmies in the Capitol” day, bringing together teams of students, teachers, and community partners from high schools around the state with career partnership academies. Together, they spend the day visiting their state legislators through appointments to provide them with insight into the opportunities offered by academy programs. Students also encourage the legislators’ support of academies and schools.

The El Dorado Golden Hawks were invited to participate this year. The participating schools had the chance to network with each other and workshop with professional advocates in addition to their Capitol visits.

Local Senator Ling Ling Chang met with the EDHS students personally and presented senate recognition certificates for each of the students. Local Assemblyman, Phillip Chen, was out of the office, but the students were able to meet with one of his staffers. The Golden Hawks made such a great impression, he extended their meeting so he could bring them onto the Assembly floor and let them take pictures!

“Thanks to Mrs. Cavalluzzi for organizing the trip and providing three Golden Hawks an awesome experience,” Principal Joey Davis said.
