Valencia High School is proud to announce that Andrea Cervantes, AVID Standout Senior, was accepted into University of California, Berkeley. She was also awarded with the Presidential Scholarship at California State University, Fullerton.

At Valencia, Andrea is a candidate for the International Baccalaureate program diploma for the Class of 2019. In addition, Andrea will be one of two keynote speakers at the Orange County Department of Education’s AVID Standout Senior Recognition and Scholarship Presentation later this month. Notably, Andrea served as the student speaker for the AVID Summer Institute between the summer of her 8th and 9th grade years.

Andrea’s AVID teacher, Mr. Calen Rau shares that, “Andrea is a remarkable young woman and gifted scholar with a tremendous work ethic who consistently demonstrates the ability to accomplish any task she sets her mind to. This is exemplified by the fact that Andrea will be one of the first two AVID students at Valencia HS to complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, in addition to her already rigorous and impressive academic resume. Andrea is among the most genuine, kind students I have worked with and is the beating heart of our AVID program who brings so much to her peers, her teachers, and the Valencia community.”

Way to go, Tiger!
