On Wednesday, April 24, five Valencia High School AVID students received several scholarships at the Orange County Department of Education’s (OCDE) Senior Standout Recognition and Scholarship Presentation. Andrea Cervantes was awarded with both the Angels Scholars and the Sun (Kingston) Scholarships. Eleazar Ureiro was awarded the Angel Scholars. Abraham Gutierrerz and Julian Venegas also received the Sun (Kingston) Scholarship. Lastly, Viridiana Espinoza was awarded with the Hope International Scholarship.

Also, Andrea Cervantes, AVID Senior Standout, was one of two senior speakers at the event who spoke of her academic journey and how the support and encouragement from those around her gave her the confidence she needed to be successful. She attributed the foundation of her success to her elementary teachers and Kraemer Middle School teachers. VHS is proud of their outstanding group of AVID students. Go, Tigers!
