Full-day kindergarten at Brookhaven Elementary School is off to an excellent start!

Full day k at Brookhaven.

Brookhaven Elementary is proud to be one of the five Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District campuses participating in this year’s full-day kindergarten pilot program.

Students began the year with a “Kindergarten Meet and Greet” on the Friday before school started to meet their teacher and see their classroom. During this time, kindergarten parents heard about the various procedures being implemented for full-day kindergarten to ensure a smooth and welcoming start to the year.

“Our students are arriving with enthusiasm to participate in the day’s learning and our two veteran teachers, Mrs. Grijalva and Ms. Vitelli, shared that this has been “the best first day and start to the school year” of their career!” Principal Julie Lucas shared. “They are loving the full day and additional time with all their students.”

According to Lucas, the Young Bears are falling into routines, making new friends, and participating in exciting and well planned lessons each day.

“Hats off to our teachers and students!” she ended.

The full-day kindergarten pilot program is new this year in PYLUSD. In addition to Brookhaven, Glenknoll, Morse, Topaz and Woodsboro elementary schools are also participating in the pilot. The program will likely be expanded district-wide for the 2020-21 year.
