Valencia High School’s senior AVID classes recently got a chance to learn about the name, face, and story from one of their own.

On Friday, October 18, Officer Nilda Campos of the Placentia Police Department spoke to the senior AVID classes. Campos, a former AVID student, shared her educational journey since graduating from Valencia High School.

Officer Campos shared with students that, after graduating from Valencia, she stayed close to home and attended California State University, Fullerton. As a first generation college student, Campos remained dedicated to achieving her goals to “make her mom proud because she had sacrificed so much” and graduated in four years with her Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice.

This school year, AVID seniors are taking part in a series of guest speakers who have returned to their alma mater to share their educational journey and wisdom since leaving Valencia. Officer Campos has proudly served the Placentia community since her days as a police explorer, and now she continues to serve this community as a sworn officer.

Valencia is very proud of Officer Campos. Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!
