Generous friend of Rio Vista pledges college tuition to “Class of 2032”

Mr. Marty Burbank, a friend of Rio Vista Elementary School and attorney/owner at OC Elder Law, made a special visit to Mrs. Ashton’s kindergarten class. He brought each student a hooded sweatshirt from Indiana University with the inscription, “Class of 2032.” Each student came up to Mr. Burbank and thanked him as they received their sweatshirt. The joy in the eyes of the students was heartwarming and genuine.

As Mr. Burbank gave his farewell to the class, he announced to the students that he — along with his wife Seon — would support them to make college education a reality by paying for their tuition. Both Mrs. Ashton and Mr. Burbank had tears in their eyes, which prompted the explanation of “tears of joy,” not sadness! The students thanked him again, and one student even offered him a tissue.
