Valencia High School boys basketball coach earns 400th career victory

Valencia High School is happy to announce that boys basketball head coach, Dean Yoshimura, reached a significant milestone in his career on Tuesday, January 7 by securing his 400th career victory. The game versus Pacifica High School also happened to be the Tigers’ first league game of the season.

Coach Yoshimura started working at Valencia in 1985, and is currently in his 35th year. He has also served as a teacher at the school for the past 31 years. Yoshimura boasts a coaching career that spans across five decades in both volleyball and basketball, and holds five League Championships and twenty two CIF playoff berths in basketball.

“His dedication to the athletics program and the school are a true display of Tiger Pride, Tradition, and Excellence,” shared Assistant Principal Jeff Louie. “Coach Yoshimura, we congratulate you on your 400th victory, and we recognize you as a true asset to our athletics programs, our athletes, and our students.”
