PYLUSD students honored for outstanding achievements in Mock Trial at Orange County Awards Reception

Eight Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) students were recognized by the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County at the Mock Trial Awards Reception on Thursday, February 6. Students were honored for their individual excellence in the county competition this fall. Of the 937 students in this year’s competition, only 56 were selected as individual award winners.

Lia Mimun of El Dorado High School and Cassidy Lee of Valencia High School were honored as 2 of the top 12 pretrial attorneys in the county. Neha Abbas of Valencia and Colby Bladow, Nathan Chung, and Mandy Haynes of El Dorado were honored among the 20 top trial attorneys. Amber Han of Yorba Linda High School was selected as 1 of the top 16 witnesses and Josephine Huynh of Valencia was honored as 1 of 2 Outstanding Clerks.

The 25 members of El Dorado’s Gold team were also honored as the Orange County Champions, and received the $2,500 Pamela Westergard Scholarship from Var Fox of Judicate West to help fund their trip to the State Finals competition in March.
