Esperanza High School wrestler crowned 2020 State Champion

EHS wrestler.

Esperanza High School senior Aaron Nagao won his second CIF State title February 29-30. The Aztec outscored his opponents 64-4 over the course of the tournament to remain undefeated over the last two years. He adds 2020 State Champion to his list of accomplishments which also include 2019 State/National Champion, 2018 State Runner Up, 2017 5th Place at State. Aaron will take his talents to the University of Minnesota following graduation.

Fellow Aztec Joey Mora finished top 12 at the same tournament. He also earned a special CIF award, “Honor in the Pursuit of Victory.” Only 10 wrestlers in the state (out of over 24,000) received this matching distinction. Way to go, Aztecs!
