Thirteen Yorba Linda Middle School students participate in virtual SCSBOA ensemble

SCSBOA.

Even during a pandemic, the show must go on! Despite the unconventional academic year, many students are making the most of it through engagement in meaningful, worthwhile, and inspiring projects. One of which is the Southern California Schools Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) Virtual Honor Groups.

These ensembles, which are composed of some of the finest young musicians in the whole of Southern California, traditionally perform at the annual SCSBOA Conference and the NAMM show in Anaheim. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity grants the students access to professionals in their field, rehearsals with composers and arrangers of their music, and a chance to play in the spotlight in front of hundreds of guests.

This year, they took it virtual, and the finished product is nothing short of amazing. Check out the video below for elementary performances, as well as middle school band and orchestra performances, featuring our district’s talented and hardworking students.

In particular, Yorba Linda Middle School, under the direction of Director of Instrumental Music, Matt LaBelle, was proud to have many students involved including the names listed below. Way to go, Bobcats!
