Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Appoints New Assistant Superintendent of Executive Services

The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard McAlindin as the new Assistant Superintendent of Executive Services. McAlindin’s appointment comes following a formal approval by the Board of Education on Tuesday, June 22.

In this role, McAlindin will perform many key functions as he oversees student services, health services, and the communication and coordination of a wide variety of school safety initiatives across the district.
“On behalf of the Board of Education, we congratulate Richard on his appointment to Assistant Superintendent of Executive Services,” shared Superintendent Dr. Jim Elsasser. “His extensive knowledge of our school district coupled with his ability to lead teams, initiatives, and well-established programs are just a few of the many capabilities that make him right for this distinguished position.”

McAlindin first began his career in education in 1992 before transitioning to PYLUSD in 2000 to be a counselor at Tuffree and Kraemer middle schools. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Instructional Support in the Superintendent’s Office.

“I am truly humbled and honored to have been appointed to the position of Assistant Superintendent,” McAlindin shared. “I am proud to be a part of a team that makes coming to work and serving this community so rewarding. I look forward to our continued focus on student success and supporting a standard of excellence that is second to none.”

Throughout his career in PYLUSD, McAlindin has held a wide variety of impactful roles including counselor, assistant principal, principal, director, and executive director.

He received his masters in psychology from Pepperdine University, pupil services credential from Chapman University, and his bachelors in psychology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Outside of PYLUSD, McAlindin served as an adjunct professor for a decade in the masters of school counseling and credential program at Chapman University. He and his wife, Michelle, reside in Rancho Santa Margarita and have four adult children.

McAlindin will begin in his new role as Assistant Superintendent of Executive Services starting July 1, 2021.
