Rose Drive December highlights

Rose Drive Elementary School had had an exciting December 2015, filled with the magic of the season!

Staff began the month of giving on a charitable note, choosing to “adopt” a family in need. They purchased gifts from the family of four’s wish list, and delivering the presents on Friday, Dec. 18.

Rose Drive’s T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More) Roadrunners also demonstrated generosity by organizing a card-making day. Students created beautiful holiday cards for Meals on Wheels recipients. T.E.A.M. Roadrunner members then walked to the nearby Meals on Wheels office on Tuesday, Dec. 15, to hand deliver the cards, which were well received. What a wonderful way to demonstrate kindness to those who need it.

One of the most magical events of December was the Spark of Love Toy Drive, sponsored by ABC7 and the Yorba Linda Fire Department, which took place during the Rose Drive Snow Night. Realtor Robert Rivera generously gave students the experience of a lifetime, transforming the parking lot into a winter wonderland with real snow for everyone to enjoy. Families dressed in snow boots, scarves and gloves, and created snowmen and snow angels. Thanks to the thoughtful donations of the Rose Drive community, a truck then delivered all the toy donations to the Honda Center on the morning of Friday, Dec. 18.

The month of fun-filled activities concluded with the annual Preppy K and kindergarten Holiday Program. Dressed to the hilt with bow ties and reindeer hats, the boys and girls sang carols for their very proud family members.

December was surely a memorable and festive month for all!
