Brookhaven Elementary School spreads positivity through chalk art across campus

On Thursday, September 8, Brookhaven Elementary School’s fourth grade class kicked off the school year by “Chalking the Walk.” “Chalking the Walk” is all about spreading kindness and inspiration through the power of chalk and creativity. Sidewalks across campus were covered in colorful, uplifting sentiments as the Brookhaven Bears took some time to chalk messages of inspiration, joy, and love in an effort to make others smile. Students and staff came across encouraging messages such as “You are Loved”, “Rock the Planet With Love”, and “Go Bears”.

Annually on September 8, students and staff spread kindness in an extra meaningful way at Brookhaven Elementary. This day is the birthday of Jerry Vitelli, a former Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) student and child of Brookhaven’s very own, Teresa Vitelli. Jerry was known in the community for his kind heart, positive attitude, and ability to make others smile.

The phrases and illustrations found around campus truly reflect the kindness and communal nature of the Brookhaven Bears. With support and guidance from Mrs. Walls and Mr. Hebert, 4th grade students were successful in spreading kindness and joy. Way to go, Bears!
