Recent Esperanza graduate starts instrumental outreach program to benefit PYLUSD students

Kayla Arellano is a recent Esperanza High School graduate a part of the Class of 2021. She is currently a freshman at UCLA studying Neuroscience and also serves as Miss Anaheim’s Outstanding Teen 2020 and 2021. She recently started a social impact initiative called Instrumental Outreach: #Music4Children.

Musical instruments can be very expensive and many families aren’t able to buy or rent instruments because they are costly. Kayla started a music outreach program in which she collects used and new instruments and donates them to music programs at schools for students to use for free during the school year so they don’t have to purchase or rent them.

This past May, Kayla donated 12 instruments to the orchestra and band program at Woodsboro Elementary School. She wanted to give back to Woodsboro because that is where she discovered her love of music and the arts as a student. Principal Dr. George Lopez accepted the donation on behalf of the school.

In September, Kayla met with Principal Cuco Gracian at Valadez Middle School Academy in Placentia to donate 14 instruments for their music program. She plans to continue her instrumental outreach initiative and donate more instruments to local schools.

Way to go, Kayla!
