Students at El Dorado help stamp out online bullying through #iCANHELP campaign

From Jan. 4 through Jan. 8, El Dorado High School helped to raise awareness of online bullying and unethical behavior through its #icanhelpdeletenegativity week. This is a program designed to remind and empower students and parents to maintain a positive online culture.

According to www.icanhelpdeletenegativity.org, “By simply tagging #iCANHELP in social media posts, students have been able to help us take down over 120 confession pages, hate pages and harassment pages on social media.”

Simply put, it’s a program to remind students that out of the 64,800 seconds in a day, we should use more of them to smile. El Dorado set up a wall at the theatron with the hashtag, and urged students to write what they are happy about on a smiley face piece of paper. The wall was filled with happiness by the end of the week!

In addition to the theatron wall, students put up sticky notes in the girls’ restrooms with compliments on them to spread kindness throughout the campus.
