Esperanza High School dancer recognized as a Neurofibromatosis Hero

Esperanza cheerleader.

On Saturday, October 23, 2021, Kaitlyn Lauryn Wilson, a captain of the Esperanza Varsity Dance Team, was honored as a Neurofibromatosis (NF) Hero at the Children’s Tumor Foundation Shine a Light NF Walk 2021 in Long Beach. Kaitlyn Lauryn is a Distinguished Scholar, a Medical Science Academy student, and a 4th-year member of the Varsity Dance Team.

As an NF Hero, her story about beating the odds and overcoming challenges associated with Neurofibromatosis 1 were shared and serves as an inspiration to fellow NF patients. At the walk, she represented the EHS Varsity Dance Team by performing a pom routine, choreographed by Coach Aubrey Kettering, an Esperanza alumna.

In addition, she taught a short dance to families participating in the walk as well as virtually via the Children’s Tumor Foundation’s Facebook page. Way to go, EHS Aztec!
