Rose Drive Elementary cultivates a culture of kindness

Rose Drive students.

Rose Drive’s 5th-grade leadership group, TEAM Roadrunner, recently organized a fundraiser to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, known as CHOC. Students created posters, made announcements, organized themselves into groups, and sold candy grams at first recess to raise money. After selling candy grams for 2 weeks, TEAM Roadrunner members delivered the grams to the classrooms.

In total, the students raised $600, which was then donated to CHOC in Lori Rikel’s name. Lori Rikel was a teacher at Rose Drive who recently passed away from cancer. Lori was passionate about students and helping her community, so the Roadrunners thought it was fitting to donate the money in her memory,
