El Dorado and Tuffree students learn from career professionals at Legal Thunder

EDHS students and Tuffree Middle School students connect with legal professionals over Zoom.

El Dorado High School Legal Studies, Advocacy and Workforce Readiness Academy (ED LAW) students and Tuffree Middle School Law Club eighth graders had the opportunity to hear from legal professionals last week at Legal Thunder. The virtual event hosted by ED LAW, featured panels of civil attorneys, criminal attorneys, special agents and judges, some of whom are parents and alumni from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District community.

Students from El Dorado and Tuffree gained valuable insight as they asked the panelists about their educational and career paths, everyday work responsibilities and words of wisdom. ED LAW peer leaders moderated each session to present new discussion topics and foster a high-energy environment.

Despite the challenges of Zoom, ED LAW students turned out yet another engaging and enthusiastic event for everyone involved.

“It’s invariably one of our most popular events of the year, with our students and legal professionals alike finding it as enjoyable as they do insightful and inspiring,” ED LAW academy coordinator Sunshine Cavalluzzi shared.

In February, ED LAW will host Legal Thunder Round Two which will be followed by “ED LAWrgument Night.”
