El Dorado High School sophomore crowned CIF wrestling Champion

EDHS wrestler.

Congratulations to El Dorado High School student Isaiah Quintero for winning the Central Division CIF Championship title! The competition took place at Fountain Valley High School on February 12, 2022.

Impressively, Isaiah competed in five matches over two days and pinned all of his opponents in the first period. He was even named the “Most Outstanding Lower Weight Wrestler” of the CIF tournament and Masters.

Fellow Golden Hawks Alejandro Nieto placed 7th with a 4-2 record while Chris Maya, Nathan Do, and Matt Ortega all won 3 matches but did not qualify for next weeks Master Championship. In Palm Springs, student-athlete Elise Urritia also competed but lost in the semi-finals, giving her the chance to wrestle for 3rd place.

With his victory, Isaiah became El Dorado’s 15th CIF Champion since 2000 and only the 3rd sophomore in school history.  Great job, Golden Hawks!
