El Dorado High School fundraises to help grant “wish” of 14-year-old with sickle cell disease

EDHS student

Ethan Yochum, a junior at El Dorado High School, recently put together a school-wide service project with the Make a Wish Foundation with a fundraising goal of $7,500. He worked with EDHS ASB and together with the students, staff, and the Golden Hawk community, raised over $8,000 to fully grant a child’s wish!

On April 27, Ethan, on behalf of the entire school, received a plaque and found out whose wish was granted: 14-year-old Emmanuel from Moreno Valley! Thanks to Ethan, Emmanuel’s wish came true, which you can read about below.

“Thank you to all of our entire Golden Hawk family for making this wish come true and well done Ethan!” shared Eron Campuzano, EDHS Activities Director.

As an aspiring voice actor and digital animator, 14-year-old Emmanuel from Moreno Valley wished to have a new computer to make his dream a reality! Emmanuel, who lives with sickle cell disease, loves to watch animated TV shows and movies like Adventure Time and the Lego Ninjago Movie, but his true wish is to make his own animated show! Thanks to El Dorado High School, he now has a new computer with the digital art software he needs to start on his animated endeavor. Emmanuel has even bigger plans for this new computer as he wants to use it for homework and to learn about the stock market. The possibilities are endless and thanks to El Dorado High School’s support, Emmanuel has the ability to design himself a new future!
