Student leaders from El Dorado and Valencia make donation to benefit local children with visual impairments

The Helping Hands for Future Leaders Organization is made up of students from El Dorado and Valencia high schools. They recently made a generous donation to benefit children receiving treatment at the Beyond Blindness center in Santa Ana.

“We want to help children with visual impairments and other disabilities with our small gift titled “Gifted To Beyond Blindness Today Can Change A Life Forever,” Club President and Valencia student Eileen Kwon shared.

To make this special donation possible, club members held a coin drive and recycling drive which raised over $300 dollars to purchase the supplies and equipment (play mats and toys) for the staff to use to help the students. These items are a great way to have a positive impact in classrooms that serve children with visual impairments. The club members went above and beyond to help spread joy by making Halloween treat bags for the children too!

Beyond Blindness is a children’s learning center created by six blind individuals in Orange County that recognized the urgent need for services to promote self-reliance for the visually impaired. Hence, they set up an accredited learning center for children.

Helping Hands for Future Leaders is a non-profit organization established for young students to actively engage with the community through various volunteer service projects. The club consists of seven high school students including Eileen, founder and president, Calvin Hong, co-president, Nathan Park, Joseph Park, Jayden Kim, Yuna Shim, and Daniel Shim. All of the students are motivated to make a positive impact in the local community. Anyone interested in getting involved with the organization may email helpinghandsforfl@gmail.com.
