Valencia High School (VHS) senior Preston Bang was sworn in as the new Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Student Board Member on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. His term will last throughout the second semester of the school year.

As the Student Board Member, Preston will prepare a monthly report to present at each Board Meeting. His reports will highlight recent activities and events occurring on the district’s high school and alternative school campuses. He will also cast preferential votes on important matters related to the school district.

Preston grew up in our district having attended Lakeview and Golden elementary schools, Kraemer Middle School, and now Valencia High School. As a senior, he serves the Tigers as ASB President. In this elected role, he has a long list of important responsibilities including planning school-wide events and activities, exemplifying school spirit, overseeing budgets, and much more. In addition to ASB, Preston’s senior year also includes International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement classes as well as other extra-curricular activities such as golf. In his free time, he works part-time at a local golf course and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Following graduation and beginning in Fall 2023, Preston hopes to attend the University of Pennsylvania or the University of California, Los Angeles to study neuroscience and take pre-med courses. He has a strong support system behind him with his mom, Jae, dad, Jim, and two siblings—Rachel and Arlen. Arlen is a fellow Tiger at Valencia, too!

The district is incredibly pleased that Preston has agreed to serve as the Student Board Member during his final semester in PYLUSD. Congratulations, Preston!
