El Dorado counselors and local colleges assist students with financial aid applications

EDHS FAFSA night

El Dorado High School sponsored a financial aid workshop on Wednesday, February 22, to help students and families complete their FAFSA/Dream Act applications before the March 2 deadline. The EDHS Counseling Team, along with financial aid experts from Santiago Canyon College and Fullerton Community College, helped assist all in attendance.

According to new state legislation (AB 469), all seniors must complete the FAFSA or Dream Act financial aid application in order to have access to federal funding, grants, direct student loans, or the Parent Plus loan. If students chose not to fill out the FAFSA/Dream Act application, they should complete an opt-out form and give it to their counselor.

“Thank you again to SCC and FCC for all your assistance and to all the families that came out for this important night!” noted Patricia Cardenas, College & Career Technician for El Dorado.
