Melrose Elementary School fifth graders participated in a “Journey to the Ocean” field trip at the Newport Sea Base. Students utilized an underwater camera to explore and develop projects that work toward preventing and cleaning up hazards in the ocean. They collected and viewed samples in the Plankton Lab, and boarded a pontoon boat to explore the harbor and identify and classify various birds.
