Jazz ensemble from Tuffree takes home second place in prestigious competition

Tuffree Middle School’s Jazz I band just finished in second place at the Western States Jazz Festival on Friday, Feb. 26, in Upland. The students competed against the best middle school/junior high jazz bands in southern California.

According to Tuffree band director Mr. Jim Hahn, “Jazz I represented very well at one of the largest jazz festivals in California. The band was one of only two bands to earn straight superior ratings while performing very difficult music.”

This was Tuffree’s first competition at this large, well-established jazz festival. Tuffree’s Jazz I battled 25 other very talented middle school ensembles to take home the silver.

Congrats Falcons!
