Former El Dorado girls basketball coach, Wayne Carlson, inducted into Hall of Fame

At the CIF Southern Section championship game at the Honda Center on Saturday night, March 5, former El Dorado High School teacher and coach Wayne Carlson was inducted into the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (SCIBCA) Hall of Fame.

Coach Carlson spent 18 years as El Dorado’s girls basketball coach where he compiled a 360-158 record. He reached the playoffs all 18 years, including two trips to the championship game in both 2014 and 2015. He was named CIF Division 1A Coach of the Year in 2001, CIF Division 3AA Coach of the Year in 2015 and the Orange County Register Coach of the Year in 2013.

Additionally, Coach Carlson spent 27 years teaching U.S. history and coaching certification classes. He was also the boys varsity golf coach at EDHS.

The SCIBCA is a professional organization founded for all basketball coaches in the CIF Southern Section. Its mission is to promote and uphold the integrity of high school basketball.
