Ruby Drive dedicates its garden

Ruby Drive Elementary School held a garden dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event was attended by students from Ruby Drive, Principal Diana McKibben, All About Food Executive Director Doug Gould, All About Food board members Stephan Olson and Lise Lindquist, and PYLUSD Director of Elementary Education Dorie Staack.

The school broke ground on this project in September 2015, and the gardens were planted in October. Over the next few months, students tended to the gardens by thinning, weeding and looking for bugs.

The All About Food garden project is connected to classroom instruction. Students learn how food comes to them, and also sample food from the garden. Recently, students picked radishes from the garden and gave them a try. Both teachers and students at Ruby Drive greatly enjoy this experience.

Thank you to all of the volunteers, Ruby Drive teachers and students, and the All About Food organization for making this possible.
