Last Friday, Preppy K and fourth grade students from Sierra Vista Elementary School took a walking field trip to Tri-City Park to meet with the Fly Fishers Club of Orange County. At the park, the children participated in four hands-on stations, where they were able to learn all about different parts of fly fishing. At one of the stations, the children got to release trout into the lake. The Preppy K children hatched the trout in their classroom, and they were able to share this experience with their fourth grade big buddies. Along with the release of the fish, the students learned all about the gear needed for fly fishing, how the flies are made and they even got to learn how to cast their own line. The children thoroughly enjoyed releasing the trout, and learning all about fly-fishing.
