On Sunday, April 3, 34 cadets from the Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program at Esperanza High School supported the fourth annual Centanni-Cottle Memorial 5k Run/Walk, which honors the service and sacrifice of hometown heroes Lance Cpl. Rick Centanni, an Esperanza graduate, and Sgt. Maj. Robert “RJ” Cottle. The 5k route passed by all three schools Rick attended, starting at Fairmont Elementary School continuing to Bernardo Yorba Middle School, and ending at Esperanza. Cadets staffed hydration stations and ran the course in formation. This event funds $1,000 scholarships awarded to Esperanza student-athletes with plans to attend college or career technical training.
