Special education training for 250 educators jump starts the year

On Wednesday, Aug. 24, the Special Education Department held a pre-service for all 250 special educators, including school psychologists, resource specialists, special day class (SDC) teachers, speech and language pathologists, and other related services providers. It was the first time in many years that everyone was brought together to jump start the school year. The theme was “On the Road Again,” and special education leaders shared the roadmap for the vision of the department for the coming year. New staff were introduced, and school teams participated in a team-building activity where personalized “roadmaps” and “vehicles” were created to signify their chosen mode of transportation for their 2016-2017 journey.
