On Friday, Oct. 9, El Dorado High School alumna Karen (Walter) Scott (class of 1989) was sworn in as a federal magistrate.
While at EDHS, Karen participated in our Mock Trial program, leading the team to the first of its six Orange County championships her senior year. After graduating from Stanford University and Stanford Law School, she returned to the El Dorado Mock Trial program to volunteer her time as an attorney coach, and is presently one of the community partners supporting our new ED LAW academy.
Six current members of the EDHS Mock Trial team led the pledge of allegiance at her investiture, and EDHS class of 2011 alum Gerard Gully, a four-year Mock Trial team member coached by Karen and now a first-year UCLA law student, was one of the event’s featured speakers.
This was a great night to be a Hawk!
Congratulations what a great achievement for Mrs. Scott and to continue to help grow our adolescents by volunteering her time is wonderful. It must be rewarding to see a past participant doing so well too.
