On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the Board of Education recognized the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for Special Education for the Northeast Orange County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) with a “You Are The Advantage” award.

The “You Are The Advantage” is one of the district’s most prestigious commendations.

Committee members Erika Hall, Maureen Brown, Chrissy Shields and Marie Lambert (not present) were honored for their immeasurable contributions to the leadership of that board for the past 15 years.

The CAC has planned parent workshops and trainings, participated in school PTAs on behalf of students with disabilities, and created websites and fliers. They have been a collaborative force over the years in support of students with disabilities.

Their insight has led to better PYLUSD programs, as well as valued partnerships with families. They have spent many days and nights guiding other parents, holding their hands in times of difficulties and cheering them on in times of success.

Erika, Maureen, Chrissy and Marie exemplify our district’s core values, and the recognition of the a “You Are The Advantage” award is well-deserved.
