Brookhaven staff receive training on the use of classroom emergency supplies

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, Los Angeles County Firefighter Jake Ching conducted a training on the use of classroom emergency supplies at Brookhaven Elementary School.

The district will be providing emergency supplies to every classroom throughout PYLUSD through a collaborative effort with Eastside Christian Church and the PTA.

Each classroom will be equipped with an emergency medical kit, which include bandages, splints, trauma dressings, drinking water, a portable toilet, a privacy tarp, flashlights and heavy duty gloves, among other items.

Firefighter Ching’s training provided an overview of the materials contained in the kit, as well as guidance on each of the item’s multiple uses. Teachers also had an opportunity to practice applying basic first aid techniques with the materials provided.

Brookhaven is the second school trained so far following Rose Drive Elementary School. The district plans to train and supply every school this year.
