Adam Carrillo sworn in as new Student Board Rep

Yorba Linda High School senior Adam Carrillo was sworn in as the new Student Representative to the PYLUSD Board of Education on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Before YLHS, Adam attended Travis Ranch for both elementary and middle school. He is enrolled in many challenging advanced placement (AP) classes, including AP Calculus BC, AP Economics and AP Government. Adam is currently the associated student body (ASB) ambassador, a position unique to Yorba Linda High. In this role, Adam acts as community liaison for the ASB, serving on the executive board.

Adam also plays trombone in the Mustangs marching, jazz and concert bands. He got his start with music as a fifth grader at Travis Ranch. Just last month, Adam, along with three of his classmates, were honored by the Orange County Register as the “Artists of the Week.” These talented musicians marched as part of the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Parade Honor Band on Monday, Jan. 2. More than 500 students auditioned this year for 160 spots in the band, four of which were filled by students from YLHS.

Next year, Adam hopes to attend UCLA and major in math, and maybe pursue a career in education.

We are very pleased that, while at Yorba Linda, Adam has agreed to serve as our Student Board Representative for the second semester of the 2016-2017 school year.
